More love. More memories.

Exceptional care for incredible pets.

Preventative Care Plans

Many canine and feline health problems and diseases can be prevented or diagnosed early with preventive care. A number of veterinary diseases can appear with little to no symptoms, yet cause severe and irreversible harm to your pet—even death. Regular physical exams and diagnostic testing are critical to keeping your pet healthy and to detect problems not visible to the naked eye.

Puppy & Kitten Care

At Lansing Animal Hospital we are here to help make sure your new addition gets the best possible start at life. Just as you would take your child to a pediatrician for professional medical care and advice, our veterinarians and staff are here to help care for and support your pet during the early stages of their life. We recommend you bring your new puppy or kitten in for its first wellness visit between 6 to 8 weeks of age.
At this visit, our veterinarians will:
  • Perform a full examination of your puppy or kitten
  • Perform testing for parasites, deworming, and feline viruses (for kittens)
  • Administer your pet’s first vaccinations and develop an ongoing vaccination schedule
  • Begin your pet on parasite control and heartworm preventive medications
  • Discuss your pet being spayed or neutered between 4 to 6 months of age
  • Provide advice regarding your pet’s diet, exercise, behavior and overall veterinary care regimen
  • Review any possible hereditary or environmental risks and conditions that may affect your pet
  • Answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding your pet’s health and wellness
Your puppy’s or kitten’s initial visit with us will serve as just the beginning of what we hope will become a long-standing relationship between our hospital and your family. Please plan to make several visits during your pet’s first months for wellness care, vaccinations, and ongoing monitoring of any health or behavior issues.

Vaccinations

Beginning at 6 to 8 weeks of age, your pet should begin receiving vaccinations in order to protect them from serious health issues. Our preventive packages include administering vaccination shots and boosters based on the recommended schedule for cats and dogs

Parasite Control

Fleas, ticks, and mosquitos all carry potential dangers and life-threatening diseases for your pets. However, with proper testing at your wellness visits and the incorporation of a monthly parasite control plan, these dangers most often can be avoided.

Bi-Annual Wellness Exams

Dogs and cats age much more rapidly than humans, and diseases affecting them can advance quickly. By bringing your pet in twice a year for examination, we can carefully assess your pet’s health needs, spot any possible issues or concerns, and begin a treatment plan.

Nutrition

Diet and exercise help keep your pet at his or her best. Helping you make sure your dog or cat receives the proper nutrition and regular exercise they need throughout their lives is an ongoing process, and we are here to assist you.

Dental Care

By the age of 3, most dogs and cats exhibit some signs of periodontal disease. Along with regular at-home brushing, our pet dental care services will help keep your pet’s teeth and gums in optimal shape.
According to the American Veterinary Dental College, periodontal disease in pets is the most common clinical condition occurring in adult dogs and cats.
Don’t let your pet become a statistic. Regular at-home care and yearly dentistry visits are the best way to prevent tooth loss, tooth decay, and mouth sores.
Lansing offers scheduled dentistry appointments as part of our comprehensive veterinary care and preventive plans to keep your pet healthy.
IS YOUR PET’S ORAL HEALTH IN DANGER?
Many pet owners neglect their pet’s teeth cleaning and oral health care. It is often, unfortunately viewed as an unnecessary and inconvenient aspect of caring for their pet. The downside is that dental disease can be difficult to spot and once developed, can be expensive and painful to treat.
If your pet is exhibiting any of the following signs, they may have dental disease:
  • Yellowing or discolored teeth
  • Inflamed or red gums
  • Bad breath
  • Swollen mouth, gums or teeth
  • Loose teeth
  • Pain or discomfort while eating
Just like in humans, regular teeth cleaning can decrease the harmful bacteria that live in your pet’s mouth, which can enter the bloodstream and damage their heart, liver, and lungs. If your pet is exhibiting any of these signs or symptoms, please contact us today.
HOW OFTEN DOES MY PET NEED DENTAL CARE?
While good pet hygiene begins at home, professional cleanings are recommended for your pet’s health. We recommend that pets receive dental cleanings at least once a year. At your annual wellness or preventive care visit, our veterinarians will assess your pet’s oral health and determine if more frequent or advanced dental care is required.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REGULAR DENTAL CARE FOR YOUR PET?
Dental care should be a part of your pet’s overall health and wellness. Incorporating it in your dog’s or cat’s health regimen helps to reduce organ disease and failure, bad breath, tooth decay, plaque and tarter, and oral infections.
